Fashion Uncorked 2013: 20K Raised for Children with Disabilites

Atlanta’s first “Project Runway”-style competition, was a huge success on Saturday, Feb. 9th at the America’s Mart. Catering to 500 ticket holders, Fashion Uncorked raised over 20 thousand dollars for children with disabilities and pick only one winning designer. Keon Brown was named the winner of the high fashion competition because of his style, creativity and overall score. As the winner, he will receive a spread in Kontrol Magazine, round trip airfare to Los Angeles to attend L.A. Fashion Week and he will show his fashions in New Orleans Fashion Week 2014. 

Benefiting Easter Seals North Georgia, Fashion Uncorked is a jewelry-inspired design challenge where ten designers were tasked with designing and sketching three original pieces: day wear, evening wear, children’s wear with a matching teddy bear. Each design was inspired by select jewelry from Enjeanious and Lady Lucia.

Fashion Uncorked was hosted by Atlanta & Company’s Christine Pullara and Dr. Courtney A. Hammonds (Art Institute). Attendees enjoyed luxury fashions, entertainment, food and fashionable silent auction featuring items from artist Neal Hamilton, Dan Harr and an autographed guitar from American Blues Rock Guitarist Joe Bonamassa. Fashion Uncorked also featured a revealing of art that expresses female beauty and freedom from Ghazaleh Coulter.

Entertainment for the evening included a wonderful performance from the Atlanta Ballet and R&B Singer Karmella Daniel. Food samples were provided by Imperial Fez, Lisa Barton Catering, La Tagliattela, Snazzy Cupcakes, Heavenly Dolce and Sweet Sinsationsand decadent wine from Barefoot Wine & Bubbly.
Easter Seals North Georgia provides high-quality services to ensure that all children with disabilities or other special needs and their families have equal opportunities to live, learn, work and play in their communities. Children who benefit from services that Easter Seals provide were also be featured in the show wearing fashions from the competing designers.

This year’s competition was judged by Rafael Cox (Lifetime TV’s Project Runway Season 9), Tracee Dundas (New Orleans Magazine), Erica Benoit (BenoitEnstyle), Mori Green (Mori Green, Inc.), Sherie Nevette (Piazza Sempione), Mary Jo Miller (Art Institute Atlanta) and E. Vincent Martinez (UrbanCouture).
