>HTOW: Flexi Rods

>

This weeks Hair Tool of the Week is the Flexi Rod. Flexi Rods are basically self explanatory. They are a wet set curling rod that flexes and bends to hold the roller in place. They come in a range of sizes that allow you to have small tight curls to large wavy curls. You would use these rods as you would most hair styling rods. Simply apply a wet styling agent to the hair and roll the hair at an angle. in my opinon if you roll the hair either wet or damp you will get a better curl that will last longer. They are great for adding curls to straight hair and defining curls for natural hair.  If you want to have the sexy Kim Kardashian Curl hot curl your hair with a hot curler and roll the hair with the flexi rod (found that on youtube) I tried it and it was cute!

>HPOW: Redken Hair Cleansing Cream

>

Hello Blog Lovers! I want to first welcome all of my new followers! Welcome…Welcome…Welcome!!!! This weeks Hair Product of the Week is the Hair Cleansing Cream By Redken. This week I will be covering a key issue that most of us face on a regular basis. That would be oil, product. and mineral (from our water) build up. A lot of us have oily scalps which leave us with oily hair. One way to combat and help with these three different types of  build up that accumulate on our scalp and eventually our hair would be using some type of clarifying shampoo. I’ve used this clarifying shampoo on some of my clients in the past and I love the smell of this product because it’s infused with fruit acids and gives off a citrus scent which leaves the hair soft, shiny, and fresh.  Check out the stats below!
Clarifies and works to remove copper, iron, hard water minerals and styling product build-up on all hair types. Formulated with fruit acids to add shine, purify and refresh hair.Contains a high concentration of chelating agents that surround minerals, making them more soluble so they can be washed away. Formulated with fruit acids to add shine, it purifies and refreshes hair.

Why It Works

> Clarifies and works to remove copper, iron, hard water minerals and styling product build-up

> Purifies, refreshes and leaves hair shiny

Side note: I know that most people believe that most hair products are specifically created for ethnic background/race. Always keep in mind that when it comes to hair you always treat it according to the texture and condition. Redken hair products, although marketed for Caucasian men and women can be used on ethic hair. Just make sure that you choose the product that is for your hair. When you think about it and look at most hair product lines you will notice that they have something for each type of hair condition. If you look at some of the ingredients they are similar (if not the same). However, some ethic hair care products contain more oil based products which can not be use on other Caucasian hair. (Just wanted to throw that out there) 🙂

This week be on the look for more information on the topic of Oily scalp and Oily hair.

>HTOW: Portable Hair Dryer Bonnet

>

This weeks Hair Tool of the Week is the Hair Dryer Bonnet. If you are tired of using the hand-held dryer and brush/comb method to dry your hair you should try the Hair Dryer Bonnet. This is good for those who do not desire to purchase a portable dryer and who need to have the extra heat for deep conditioning treatments or just drying the hair. There are hair dryer bonnets on the market today that come with it’s own heat base and there are some that you just simply attach to your hand dryer and go from there. I know it’s summer time and it’s hot outside and a lot of us are avoiding using a lot of heat on our hair, and that’s great but keep in mind to get the full affect of our deep conditioner methods we should always use some type of heat on our head to open up our pores. Heat from our head is sometime not always as effective as the heat from the dryer.  Also, keep in mind when you’re purchasing a dryer, hand- held, portable, or the bonnet. The higher the wattage the more heat it’s going to give off and how fast it’s going to dry the hair. The higher the wattage on the hand-held dryers the straighter the hair will become because of the heat that it gives off. The higher the wattage the more energy it uses. There’s a down side and an upside to choosing a dryer to obtain great results. The hair dryer bonnets usually range from $10.00 to $40.00 depending on the type and brand. The one pictured on the right is less than $10.00 because you just attach it to your hand-held dryer Click Here to check it out on Folica.com.

>HPOW: Aphogee Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor

>Hello Blog Lovers! I know I completely bombed and did not post a HPOW or HTOW. It’s crunch time for me right now with school the quarter is almost over and then I’m going immediately into a new quarter. I also had a busy work schedule among some technical difficulties with my internet at home so in other words, last week was just one of those weeks.

This week’s Hair Product of the Week is the ApHogee Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor. I’ve never used ApHogee products before. It’s new to me just like the Cantu Leave in Conditioner (which is a new fave of mine!) I was in Sally’s on Friday making a small purchase (I purchased some perm rods, silk-elements glossing polish<
Apply on clean hair in shower and rinse to treat brittle hair with cuticle damage and moderate breakage.  ApHogee Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor is a powerful, one step treatment that should be used for home use, between salon visits.  This concentrated blend of keratin amino acids, botanical oils, and vitamins does wonders to restore strength and softness to hair that requires a deep, penetrating treatment.  It is recommended on tinted, bleached or relaxed hair.  ApHogee Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor helps repair damage caused by chlorine and hard water.  It soothes irritated scalp and may be applied following each shampooing until the healthy condition of the hair is restored.
Now I can honestly say the reason why I made my purchase. I liked that it’s supposed to sooth irritated scalp and get rid of the itchy scalp syndrome I want to control. The fact that it contains keratin amino acids and botanical oils was a plus as well. I wouldn’t consider my hair brittle or damaged but I am relaxed and every little bit does help.
Do you use ApHogee products? Which ones are your favs and which one would you recommend and why??

>HTOW:Perm Rods

>

This weeks Hair Tool of the Week is the Perm Rod. The Spiral Perm Rod was discussed a few weeks back and how it’s simliar but different than the regular Perm Rod. Perm Rods are used for Chemical Waving (the technical term) which is referred to as a Perm. It’s simliar to a relaxer for African American Women but differnt for Caucasian Women. The entire idea is to alter the hair pattern. Initially take staight hair and make it curly. Where as the Relaxer is used to take curly hair and make it straight. What I like about using the Perm Rod is that I add curls to my hair for them to last longer than curls given with a regular curling iron.  If you’re natural you use these rods to help define your curls. They range in an array of sizes from extra Jumbo to teeny-tiny sizes.  Just simply take some mousse or setting lotion, and wrap the ends of the hair with some end papers for hair rollers and roll and set the hair in the direction you choose. It’s great for defining and adding voulume to the afro’s Check out my Quick weave that I did below where I just took some Wet and Wavy hair and created a Stunning Affro using my baby perm rods!
